  • Computer EquipmentComputer, printer, and scanner – this one is almost on the “Need to have” list. A computer is almost an essential item in terms of using to create brochures, business cards, letters to customers, invoices, etc. Can you make product without it? Sure, but in the long run you will be using a computer to handle the day-to-day business procedures.

  • Display Equipment – there are really two things to consider:  Your wood products will be your best advertising, think about what type of stand or room will display your furniture (of all sizes) best. For larger items or one-off items photo album that customers can view is a good idea. You need to have something available so a customer can look closely at your furniture and check your quality.

  • Digital CameraCamera (Preferably Digital) – You will need to send pictures of your work to a variety of sources: customers, competitions, shows, and web postings.

  • Packaging for you furniture – How will you deliver the furniture to customers? Will you use tags with your name printed on it, boxes, etc.

Once you’ve gathered these materials together, you need to put them somewhere. Let’s talk about organizing your studio/workshop/work area.
