The most important part of starting a business is establishing a clear business goal. After you have developed your business goal, you will have a clearer picture of what you want from your business, and how much time and money you are interested in investing.

There are important considerations in planning your business and advantages to working full-time and also part-time.

Part Time

Full Time

  • Let’s you slowly establish business – can be advantageous when you don’t have the financial resources to support your business

  • Gives you more time to devote – you can accept more clients, have more time for marketing, working on projects, and finding other business supports

  • Allows you to build experience as a business owner

  • Gain business experience in hands on fashion – often good to work with mentor to help through rough spots

  • Make sure this is the business for you

  • You are confident this is what you want to do and can’t wait to get started

  • Allows you to test the market waters

  • You have to sink or swim, find customers and make a success. Great to start if you know you already have a strong customer base

Whether you decide to approach your business part-time or full-time, you still need to have some skills in balancing your time for your business and your other commitments.
